I am a writer who publishes regularly about Australian arts, culture and politics.
For the past decade I have written a column on Australian politics and society for New Matilda. I also write regularly about Australian arts and culture for Crikey, the Guardian and Arts Hub, and a range of other publications.
I often write longer-form pieces and essays. I recently wrote essays about class in Australia and Australian cultural policy for Overland. I reviewed Naomi Klein’s This Changes Everything for the Sydney Review of Books. In 2015 I received the PEN Melbourne Essay Commission for a piece on Australia’s anti-terror laws, also in Overland.
My first book, When the Goal Posts Move, was published in 2016 by Currency House.
